Little White Lies 'The Black Swan Issue'
Very interesting little video of the making of Little White Lies' latest issue 'The Black Swan Issue'
Beautifully made, especially the hand-drawn image on the cover and type designed by David Carson, and a great insight to what it takes to make a magazine from start to finish

Smile for London on the tube
Second trip to London to see Amy's winning animation playing on the underground, we decided to view it at Victoria station as this was on our way to the Saatchi Gallery.
Great to see the animation in the environment of the tube platform on the massive CBS screens they have, also great to see it alongside the animations from Airside and Aardman, the latter being particularly good.
Proud.

AM/PM
Just finished this brief for uni, we were asked to take the title AM/PM and either create a title sequence for BBC4 or as I chose to create an interactive kiosk design.
I took this and adapted it to an installation based on the idea of space and time. I then decided to create the installation for the science museum as a way for kids to learn about the solar system, called "Solus". The installation puts you in the position of the planet, the interaction involves you walking on the floor interface and when you stand on the name of a planet it triggers the sun, represented by a wall of light, to be brighter or dimmer depending on which planet you have stepped on. Then at the same time the temperature of the room changes in accordance to the planet you are stood on
Then this is a video animation of how the floor interface changes when you step on a planet and trigger the interaction.

M.I.A
Amazing new set of music videos from M.I.A with Hype Williams. I love the use of old internet imagery and the effect of 'it's so bad it's good' XXXO is definitely the better one, I like how they've used the style of teenage girls myspace pages etc. plus the use of cool little gifs, maybe thats just because I love gifs.

The Devil and Daniel Johnston Title Sequence
My title sequence for the documentary film The Devil and Daniel Johnston. I was influenced by the way Johnston he recorded his music onto cassette tapes, so I decided to put the titles onto cassette tapes. Next I was influenced by his artwork and how he drew on his cassette tapes, so I made small stop motion animations to go over the cassettes. Then I cut this will footage of Johnston, to give the viewer a clue as to who he was before watching the film.
The music is True love will find you in the end by Daniel Johnston.

Videogrid by Ross Phillips
Here's a quick video from Decode exhibition in London, which we went to see last weekend. This piece was probably the most popular and simple thing there. As you can see people were having fun creating an animation that looked like they were passing a book to each other.

Final Alphabet Animation
Here's the final edit of my alphabet animation, I decided to leave it silent as it created the best atmosphere for the animation, giving it an eerie quality.

Boss Inside
Here's the music video for Adam Green's song "Boss Inside" directed by Dima Dubson. It's a very simple concept but I think it works really well for the song.

A Alphabet Animation
The beginnings of editing my alphabet in After Effects. I've masked off around the letter and then experimented with layering, feathering and adjusting the brightness and contrast to get this effect.

Full Alphabet Animation Test
Here is a quick edit of all the footage from my alphabet. It was created using a bowl of lemonade and then adding bicarbonate of soda to it to create the fizz effect over the letters.
Next step After Effects.

Alphabet Animation Tests
For our new project in which we have to create an animation of an alphabet using practical methods. I began by looking at this example of an animation using unexpected methods, they used a speaker and a mixture of cornstarch and water into which he dropped the letters and with the vibration of the speaker they were engulfed into the mixture.
I then started experimenting myself and I came across effervescent tablets, which reacted in the water to fizz and hide the letter
From this I experimented more, using 3D letters in a bowl of water which i held an effervescent tablet in to make it fizz over the letter and mask it.
However, this was very unpredictable so I decided to try using a bowl of lemonade and adding bicarbonate of soda to it to create the fizz effect over the letters. This worked a lot better and produced a more violent reaction.
