Smile for London on the tube

Second trip to London to see Amy's winning animation playing on the underground, we decided to view it at Victoria station as this was on our way to the Saatchi Gallery.

Great to see the animation in the environment of the tube platform on the massive CBS screens they have, also great to see it alongside the animations from Airside and Aardman, the latter being particularly good.

Proud.

The Devil and Daniel Johnston Title Sequence

My title sequence for the documentary film The Devil and Daniel Johnston. I was influenced by the way Johnston he recorded his music onto cassette tapes, so I decided to put the titles onto cassette tapes. Next I was influenced by his artwork and how he drew on his cassette tapes, so I made small stop motion animations to go over the cassettes. Then I cut this will footage of Johnston, to give the viewer a clue as to who he was before watching the film.

The music is True love will find you in the end by Daniel Johnston.

Asics Stop Motion Animation

DAK Stop Motion Animation

Intervelometer from Kunal Sen on Vimeo.

This is by Team DAK, it's called Intervelometer and won Best Picture at the 2nd Annual Trick 17 Stop Motion Animation Contest.
Their final animation is quite surreal, which is what I really like about it. Especially the section where a man is drawn on a clear sheet and is animated to run through the city. The concept is really simple, using an A4 piece of paper and constantly rotating it to make an image on both sides to appear as one, and is done really well and they have put a lot of thought in to the accompanying music, which adds to the surreal atmosphere.

Sweet Gifs

This is a really simple website, which is just pages of animated gifs. The backgrounds are tiled with the gifs and has a really simply design navigation in the top left, which doesn't detract from the gifs.
Some of them look a little rushed, but there are some really good ones if you look through the pages, especially this one on page 18.

The pages themselves would look really nice as backgrounds for websites, they'd create a bold first impression and would catch the viewers attention straight away.

Special Guest Stop Motion

This is amazing-- http://www.specialguest.tv/ and click on the Special Guest link on the right hand navigation.

It's a stop motion animation by Special Guest using crochet to create the characters, it must have taken a long time to do but the result is really effective.
The start is the best part, as it's really simple and the sounds of the crochet give an eery atmosphere.
